Dating from the 13th century and owned by the Lords of Beaujeu, the Château de Juliénas has always been a wine estate. The northern part was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century, while the authentic vaulted cellars made of local stone date from 1744. In 1907, the Condemine family acquired and restored the Château. Today, Thierry Condemine and his wife Aurélie run the vineyard. The 40 hectare estate produces four Beaujolais appellations: Juliénas, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie and Beaujolais-Villages Rosé. In order to expand the range, a Chardonnay cuvée will be introduced from 2023. Since 2018, the Château has obtained the Terra Vitis label, a guarantee of sustainable agriculture, which is more respectful of the environment. To go further in their approach, Thierry and Aurélie have also started a conversion to organic farming since 2018, the estate will receive the AB label in 2022.
