Visiting Château des Bachelards means soaking up the harmony that prevails in the estate's vineyards and sharing the art of living à la française in southern Burgundy.
It also means watching the sun set over the 'La Madone de Fleurie' chapel, tasting a glass of wine on the terrace, surrounded by old vines in the château's walled garden and the biodynamic agriculture that characterizes them. It also means, above all, taking your time and letting the magic of the place happen.
Major efforts have recently been undertaken to develop an instructive and original wine tourism dimension in a humanistic, professional way. The estate has the "Vignobles et Découvertes" label and is ranked in the top ten French wine estates in the category "education and respect for the environment" a ranking by Terre de Vins 2019. Undeniably, Alexandra de Vazeilles's life has always been centered around welcoming others, transmitting knowledge and fraternity, without which genuine harmony is hard to achieve.
As part of a 1000-year old history, Château des Bachelards takes all the facets of sustainable winegrowing to heart. The Château des Bachelards vineyards in Fleurie are certified organic and biodynamic. It is the only estate with both certifications in the Fleurie, Moulin-à-vent and Saint-Amour appellations. It continues to be the region’s pioneer in that field. The estate now has the "Fermes d'Avenir" (Farms of the Future) label for the quality of its biodiversity and its agroforestry project.
In the three-star system used by the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France, Château des Bachelards has one 'star', placing it among the 200 best winegrowing estates in France.
It has also been ranked n°1 in Fleurie wines by two of the most prestigious international reviews, "Vinous" in English and "Suckling and Falstaff" in German, for each of the first three vintages produced by Alexandra de Vazeilles.
